Privacy Policy
Effective 1 October 2026
TripJoe (“we”, “us”) runs the trip planner at tripjoe.app. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it for us, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information and we do not show ads.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your name and profile picture from Google.
- Trip content. Trip titles, destinations, dates, day start and wrap-up times, stops, visit durations, chosen transport modes, routes, cost estimates, parking choices and the members of each trip.
- Sign-in cookies. Strictly necessary cookies that keep you signed in.
- Usage analytics. Google Analytics records pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and how you arrived. We replace trip IDs and share codes in page addresses with placeholders and do not send trip titles, so your itinerary contents are not sent to analytics.
- Server logs. Our hosting and database providers keep standard request logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
How we use it
- To provide the service: save your trips, calculate routes, find places and parking.
- To let people you share a trip with view it.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To understand aggregate usage so we can improve TripJoe.
Who processes data for us
- Supabase stores your account and trips and handles sign-in (United States).
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Google Maps Platform displays maps and receives place searches and the coordinates of your stops to return places, routes, travel times and transit fares. Use of Google Maps features is subject to the Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics measures site usage as described above.
- OpenStreetMap / Overpass API receives stop coordinates to look up nearby parking.
- Google, if you choose “Continue with Google”, to authenticate you.
We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect users and the service.
Shared trips
When you turn on a share link, anyone with that link can view the trip without signing in. Turn sharing off at any time to revoke access.
Retention
We keep your account and trips until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Provider logs are kept according to their own retention periods.
Your choices and rights
You can edit or delete your trips in the app. You can ask us to access, export, correct or delete your personal data, or object to analytics, by emailing privacy@tripjoe.app. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have additional rights, including complaining to your local data protection authority. You can block analytics with your browser’s privacy settings or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Children
TripJoe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the effective date above.
